Last month we talked about how to make successful goals, and this month we are going to go over how to keep them!
Reach Out to Others
We achieve more together! Enlist a friend or loved on to help keep you on track. Having someone to guide us and remind us of our goals gives us the strength to stay in the game. And having someone who shares the same goals as you can be a wonderful motivator.
Tweak Your Habits
What habits are making or breaking your goals? Is sleeping in late preventing you from working out? Is constantly running late keeping you from making better meals? Evaluate what habits you can alter to help you find more success!
Break Down Your Goals
The smaller your goal is, the easier it is to achieve, and the more frequently you’re able to achieve your goals, the more motivated you will feel to create new ones. Deciding you are going to exercise an hour every day, when you weren’t exercising at all before, can be a huge and overwhelming task, where as deciding to exercise for 15 minutes three times a week is much more achievable. When it doubt, make it smaller! You can always increase your goal later.
Be Kind to Yourself!
Making big changes to your daily routine and the way you live is hard. Don’t beat yourself up if you don’t reach your goals right away. Remember to stay positive and to keep trying. Even if it takes you years to finally see the changes you want, know that ultimately the only way to fail at your goals is to give up on them.
