  1. Pastega Christmas Lights Display

Come enjoy the Pastega Christmas Light Display, a Corvallis holiday and community tradition since 1981, happening Nov. 24 through Dec. 31 at the Benton County Event Center and Fairgrounds.

The Pastega Christmas Light Display has been bringing holiday joy to Corvallis for over forty years. Every year volunteers donate thousands of hours of work to deck the fairgrounds out in holiday lights and displays, including more than 250 figures and mechanized scenes.

Visitors can enjoy the Pastega Christmas Light Display from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily, Nov. 24 through Dec. 31 at the Benton County Fairgrounds. Drivers can enter the light show through the Reservoir Avenue entrance. Admission is a canned food item for donation.

Located in Corvallis, Oregon, the heart of the Willamette Valley, the Teal Co-operative Art Gallery has the reputation as the place to shop for hand-crafted, unique, made-in-Oregon gifts.

Each year their team of dedicated Oregon artists transform an otherwise vacant and lifeless store front into a world of color, light and beauty, open for business during the months of November and December. 

On display and for sale are some of the finest works in fiber, leather, pottery, jewelry, glass, metal, wood work, mixed media, paper, and soap that the central Willamette Valley has to offer.

A portion of the Gallery’s sales is donated to schools and programs in the community. This year the Bessie Coleman Elementary School in Corvallis will be the recipient of the Gallery’s 2023 Charitable Donation.

Get in the spirit with the Majestic’s annual winter dance concert featuring holiday-inspired performances in a variety of styles – Ballet, modern, tap, hip-hop and more. The Majestic will be hosting some of the best local talent. From waltzing to hip-hop, they aim to Make Your Spirits Bright!

  1. Light the World Corvallis

Light The World is an invitation to transform Christmas into a season of service. It’s a worldwide movement to touch hearts and change lives by doing the things Jesus did: feeding the hungry, comforting the lonely, visiting the sick and afflicted, and showing kindness to everyone.

The Light the World community event in Corvallis will be a celebration of Jesus Christ’s birth through uplifting musical concerts. Several interfaith and community choirs will perform each evening of the event. There will also be opportunities to support those in need by donating to trusted and vetted local and global charities.

10 a.m.: Enjoy a program featuring an interfaith children’s choir and community service project, geared towards children under 12 but open to all.

1 p.m.: Join in one or more of several service projects including making toys, sensory kits, cards, and care kits, and a food drive.

  1. Mark O’ Connor’s: An Appalachian Christmas

Grammy-winning composer and fiddler Mark O’Connor has created several arrangements of Christmas classics and fashions a wondrous mixture of both instrumental and vocal music in bluegrass and other American music genres. Concertgoers are treated to fresh takes on traditional songs with a few original compositions included. His renditions are playful and joyous, but can be strikingly earnest too.

Mark O’Connor’s Christmas concerts features himself performing on four instruments; fiddle, acoustic guitar, mandolin and mandocello. The shows include his wife and fellow Grammy-winner Maggie O’Connor on fiddle and vocals. Mark and Maggie have performed An Appalachian Christmas together as husband and wife for nearly 10 years. Much of the year they tour behind their latest recording of original Americana songs and classics, Life After Life. Together on stage, Mark and Maggie have a dynamic energy that bring their individual expertise to holiday themes and classics in the most delightful and musically satisfying way!

  1. Corvallis-OSU Symphony: Holiday Concert

As the longest continually-operating orchestra in the state, the Corvallis-OSU Symphony Orchestra is a major force in the music scene of the Willamette Valley. From its inception in 1906 as a collegiate orchestra composed of nine male members, the symphony has grown into a highly regarded, 110-member ensemble performing five major concerts each season. Conductor Marlan Carlson, Oregon State University Endowed Chair for University Orchestras integrates student, faculty, and professional musicians from Portland, Eugene, and Corvallis.The Holiday Concert will feature Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, and the OSU Choirs performing holiday favorites.

  1. Corvallis Comedy Night: Emmy Blotnick

Emmy Blotnick has deep thoughts about shallow subjects. Whether it’s Amazon reviews, dog grooming or teen pop music, her hilarious takes on modern American culture are always more sharp and insightful than our ridiculous times deserve. As a stand-up, Emmy has performed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Conan, Comedy Central, and is a regular panelist on NPR’s Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me!. As a TV writer, she was nominated for an Emmy (no relation) for her work on The Late Show, and has also written for numerous other shows including The Comedy Central Roast, @midnight and Best Week Ever. The New York Times calls her “a rising star with a comic, Black Mirror view of culture.”

This show will contain adult language. No one under 18 will be admitted without a parent or gurdian.

Winter Storytelling: Indigenous Stories of Place

Join members of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and their invited guests in person for an evening of Grand Ronde and Kalapuya storytelling in many forms. Stories shared will focus on place and life in Western Oregon. They will include family stories, Ikanum (creation stories), contemporary stories, and readings. This will be a unique event. There has been no precedent for this presentation to the general public in Corvallis. There is no pre-registration, just show up, but show up on time to improve your chance of receiving an available seat. At the request of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde, this in-person program will not be recorded and no private recordings will be allowed. Showing up is your only opportunity to experience this very special program.

  1. 2023 Philomath Parade of Lights

The City of Philomath and the Philomath Frolic and Rodeo are partnering to host a new holiday parade.

Philomath’s inaugural Parade of Lights will happen Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. The parade route will begin on South 19th Street, head north to Applegate Street, west to South 15th Street, south to Cedar Street, and finally west across Fern Road to the Philomath Frolic and Rodeo grounds.

Community members are invited to create floats and enter them in the parade. There will be an award for Best Lit Float. For more information, and to register to be in the parade, click here.
